LINI’s Aquaculture and Training Center – September 2015

accommocation at the traning center in Les

There has been a lot happening at LINI’s Aquaculture and Training (LATC) since our last update!
In July, the foundations of the student accommodation housing were laid and the houses are now being constructed. The three houses are being built in a traditional North Sulawesi-style and will accommodate up to six people each.

The Centre received support from the Australian Consulate-General in Bali through their Direct Aid Program, the family of Sianawati Sugiarto (the owner of Blue Star), who kindly let LINI use their land, and from the Australian Volunteer for International Development (AVID) Program.

We are seeing amazing progress each day. It will not be long now until the houses are completed and we can welcome our first guests to stay at the Centre!

The LINI Aquaculture and Training Centre offers hands-on training, research and work experience in marine conservation and aquaculture. A number of aquaculture activities are being run at the Centre including breeding ornamental fish and a reef restoration program. Training modules are offered in marine conservation and aquaculture techniques.
