About Me
Gayatri had a distinguished career in marine conservation for over 30 years. Was holding an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent, UK, with a thesis focused on the impact of marine tourism on coral reefs in Indonesia's Thousand Islands Marine National Park, she exhibited profound expertise. Her extensive training and work experience include roles as Indonesia Country Director for Marine Aquarium Council, Marine Policy Advisor for WWF Indonesia, and Marine Program Coordinator for WWF Indonesia. Gayatri had also contributed significantly to marine education and awareness initiatives. She founded the Yayasan LINI (Yayasan Alam Indonesia Lestari) in 2008, a Bali-based national NGO dedicated to sustainable fisheries conservation and management, emphasizing policy work, capacity-building, and research programs. Additionally, she had undertaken consultancy assignments with organizations such as Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) and the Coral Triangle Centre (CTC). Gayatri's vast knowledge and commitment to marine conservation made her a prominent figure in the field.
