Retno joined LINI as a volunteer in 2017, supporting the research, education, and outreach program at LATC. After completing her volunteering program, she worked with several NGOs on marine megafauna conservation projects until 2023, before she pursued her master's degree. On June 2025, she completed her master's study at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and hold Master of Science from the Marine Biology Graduate Program sponsored by Fulbright and East-West Center. Outside of her professional experience, she joined several international leadership programs, including Young Southeast Asia Leadership Initiatives and Blue Pioneer Program. She currently serves as a Knowledge Manager at LINI, where she leads knowledge management and contributes to the development of internal and external training programs.
